“After more than 20 years of promoting youthful love The bachelor party, the bachelorette partyAND Bachelor in heaven, the golden bachelor showcases a whole new kind of romance, one for the golden years,” announced the US network ABC.
The Golden Bachelor has been in the works for several years, with ABC first pitching the idea during season 24 of The bachelor with casting announcements for “seniors looking for love”.
TV has branched out on the dating genre in recent years with shows like Love on the spectrum, date better than ever, my mom your dad AND I kissed a boy in the UK.
According to the network’s press release, “a hopeless romantic” will be “given a second chance at love in their search for a partner to share life’s twilight years.”
“The women who arrive at the mansion have a lifetime of experience, living through love, loss and laughter, hoping for a spark to ignite a future filled with infinite possibilities,” the statement continued. “Eventually, will our golden man turn the page to start a new chapter with the woman of his dreams?”
This week 10 announced The bachelor the franchise will be moving to Victoria, but casting has yet to be announced.
