The Block proved to be too strong for the return of Seven’s cooking contest last night.

Nine’s renovation series topped entertainment on Monday at 651,000 metro viewers.

That was ahead of 7:30 (504,000), Australian Story (481,000), My Kitchen Rules (470,000), down slightly on 2022’s premiere of 503,000 with Nigella Lawson, and The Traitors (275,000).

Later Have You Been Paying Attention? led with 543,000 then Four Corners (395,000), Media Watch (391,000) and Missing Persons Investigation (291,000).

Nine network won Monday with 28.9% then Seven 27.8%, 10 18.0%, ABC 17.5% and SBS 7.7%.

Nine News was 858,000 / 823,000 with A Current Affair leading on 710,000 then Hot Seat (383,000 / 245,000). Across the network were Footy Classified (127,000) and 100% Footy (66,000).

Seven News was #1 at 935,000 / 888,000. The Chase led with 591,000 then Home & Away (441,000). The Rookie was 203,000 with The Rookie: Feds at 127,000.

The Project drew 287,000 / 184,000. 10 News First was low at 207,000 / 139,000. A Shark Tank replay managed 145,000.

ABC News pulled 552,000. Q+A (181,000) and The Drum (121,000) followed.

On SBS it was SBS World News (151,000 / 122,000), Finding Your Roots (123,000), 24 Hours In Emergency (75,000) and Britain’s Most Expensive Houses (73,000).

SBS VICELAND series 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown topped multichannels at just 88,000.
