D+R host Stan Grant is on eight weeks off, ABC management confirmed at a Senate hearing on estimates this afternoon in Canberra.
“He took about eight weeks of leave,” news director Justin Stevens said.
It is unclear whether he will return soon after.
D+R is hosted by Patricia Karvelas next Monday ahead of a mid-season break. News director Justin Stevens has previously indicated that he hopes Grant will return later.
Grant told viewers on Monday, “I’m not leaving for a while because of racism. We get it too often. I’m not leaving because of social media hate. I need a break from the media. I feel like I’m part of the problem and I need to ask myself how or if we can do it better.”
In the separate ABC News, News Breakfast host Michael Rowland confirmed today that he will be taking 5 weeks of scheduled vacation.
