Nove secures the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

Nine has secured the exclusive free and subscription audio-visual and audio rights to the Paralympic Games Paris 2024.

Historic deal with Paralympics Australia follows agreement for exclusive audiovisual rights and non-exclusive audio rights for Summer and Winter Olympic Games from 2024 to 2032 by the IOC.

Nine CEO Mike Sneesby said: “It is a privilege to be able to bring the Paralympic Games of Paris 2024 in Australia. We look forward to building our relationship with Paralympics Australia and ensuring the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games are accessible on more platforms than ever before.”

In a note to staff, he said the deal consolidated Nine as the Australian headquarters of the Olympic Games AND Paralympics.

“Many may not be aware that the Paralympics (or parallel Olympic Games) is a separately managed event for summer and winter Olympic Games, and required a separate negotiation process with Paralympics Australia and the International Paralympic Committee. It is a privilege to be able to broadcast the Paralympic Games Paris 2024, and I’d like to give special thanks to the team that got this deal over the edge, especially our General Counsel, Rachel Launders, and Chief Strategy Officer, Matt Stanton.

“I am also pleased to announce that Matt, in addition to his strategic role, will be stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer, Olympic Games AND Paralympics. Matt has been integral to every discussion that has taken place over the last few months and is well placed to lead our teams to success at Paris 2024 and ensure we all make the most of this important opportunity.

Paralympics Australia CEO Catherine Clark added: “Once you experience Paralympic sport, it leaves a lifelong impression. Through this amazing new partnership with Nine we have the opportunity to showcase Para-sport and tell the amazing stories of our athletes and our movement to more Australians than ever before.

In addition to free-to-air and streaming coverage on 9Network, 9Now and Stan, Nine will cover the Paralympics at 2GB Sydney, 3AW Melbourne, 6PR Perth, 4BC Brisbane, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Brisbane Times, WAtoday, The Australian Financial Review and nine.com.au.
