10 had one of its best nights in months last night with its primary channel in second place behind Seven.

A late night  Matildas v Chinese Taipei match scored 456,000 metro viewers and topped all demos.

Elsewhere Nine managed an upset in breakfast with a rare win by Today over Sunrise, which will go some way to make up for its weak primetime.

The Chase led entertainment at 458,000 / 280,000.

A Hard Quiz repeat won its slot at 432,000 then 7:30 (393,000), SAS Australia finale (351,000), The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity (328,000) and My Mum Your Dad (279,000).

Later Question Everything was 351,000 then Would I Lie to You? (236,000).

Seven network won Wednesday with 26.0%, 10 and Nine tied on 24.1%, ABC 18.2% and SBS 7.6%.

Seven News was #1 at 806,000 / 763,000 then Home & Away (398,000). A Year on Planet Earth  was 147,o000.

The Project pulled 252,000 / 157,000 for 10. 10 News First was 184,000 / 138,000.

Nine News (709,000 / 671,000) was best for Nine. A Current Affair was 621,000 then Hot Seat (328,000 / 207,000). Love Island is TBA.

ABC News managed 484,000. Planet America (188,000), The Drum (122,000) an QI (108,000) followed.

On SBS it was SBS World News (142,000 / 97,000), Meet the Neighbours (129,000), Alone UK and Significant Other (both TBA).

Highway Patrol on 7mate topped multichannels at 116,000.
