Last leg’s season cut short due to cost cuts

The last stop spearheaded by Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker, its upcoming season has been cut from nine to seven episodes as Channel 4 deals with financial matters.

It will be the show’s shortest run since the block.

The broadcaster is facing a budget crisis as production costs rise and advertising spending decreases. It was revealed earlier this week that executives were forgoing significant bonuses “as part of a larger response to a very tough advertising market.”

Channel 4 is making a number of cuts, including axing the reality show Four weddings restart at the eleventh hour and cancel programs that were in the early stages of development or not yet formally commissioned.

The 28th series of The last stop kicks off in the UK on Friday 30 June.
