Boxer Harry Garside, runner up I’m a celebrity Get me outta here, was charged with common assault after being arrested at Sydney airport yesterday.
The 25-year-old was met by NSW Police detectives when he arrived home from South Africa with his father Shaun and was escorted by two Australian Federal Police officers into a waiting car.
Garside was interviewed about an alleged incident in March with his ex-girlfriend Ash Ruscoe at her Bondi flat.
NSW Police said: “A 25-year-old man was arrested at Sydney International Airport at approximately 2.40pm today (Tuesday 2 May 2023), following an investigation by officers from Area Command Eastern Suburbs Police Department on reports of an alleged domestic violence-related incident involving a 32-year-old woman.
“He was taken to the Mascot Police Station and charged with common assault (DV).”
Garside has been granted conditional bail and will appear at Downing Center Local Court on 24 May.
Asked if he would fight the charges, Garside told Channel Seven: “Sure.”
