The winners were announced by the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance’s Equity Foundation at the 2023 Equity Ensemble Awards.
The casts were honored at an awards ceremony at the Sydney Theater Company last night which was attended by more than 200 members of the Australian arts and entertainment industry.
Mystery Road: Origin won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
The judges said: “Path of Mystery it has an amazing cast who all have an opportunity to shine thanks to an incredibly well-developed script and well-crafted show. The cast is diverse in age and industry experience, but they all come together to create a cohesive and rich narrative world.
Colin of accounts won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
The judges said, “Not only is the writing excellent from this dynamic duo, but all the actors blend well together to create a very tight ensemble. Each character adds great depth to the narrative with no one there just for the fun of it. The supporting actors and the leads formed a cohesive unit and the series was richer for it. Most importantly, we ended up laughing out loud the entire time!
ABC Significant others won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Miniseries/Telemovie.
The judges said, “The journeys of the characters are clear and the effect each character has on the ensemble is layered with complexity and depth, as is typical of a major production. The cast is diverse and subtly explores the internal and external struggles these characters face, including the everyday stereotypes they endure. This show explores diversity not for the sake of diversity, but for our deeper understanding of others.
The Equity Lifetime Achievement Award, announced in March, went to stuntman Chris Anderson who has more than 100 film credits.
